In 2004 March I made a trip to Rome and saw people sleeping in the streets. Was shocked.
But unfortunately I see the same scenes here in our cities and people(most from Eastern Europe)frequently are begging at the entrance of supermarkets.
Depression is not far off.
Heartbreaking to see how many more panhandlers/homeless people we've accumulated over the last 25 or 30 years. When Laura and I got married, they were relatively few and far between in SF, and pretty much contained to a small area downtown. Now, it's hard to find a neighborhood where they're not, and it may get worse before it gets better.
