The area of the central farm of TNAU Madurai or Tamil Nadu Agriculture University of Madurai, is 78.16 hectares. Rice is the major crop from experiments in paddy cultivation for direct sowing. Every year about 200 tons of certified seed is produced and sold to the farming community.
