One of my favorites, Tamarind, fine bitter fruity tasting like lemon and rather sticky to peel and eat it as such.
After 5 days of drying in the sun, this old lady was peeling the Tamarind in the shade. It is used in the kitchen as a flavouring spice in cooked meals. She gave some, hard to refuse.
Tamarand trees are very common in Tamil Nadu, also ornamental used to provide shade and loved by the monkeys too for the ripened fruit.
Taken on the countryside in a small farmers village on the way to Mungalam.
