In a way I am not fond at all of lorry drivers. Several times they pushed me off the road driving my bike. Like pirates they dominate the road, they got the biggest mass and horn. Causing lot of accidents you could wonder why there is not more control on their driving style. Together with busses they score more victims daily then on a Jalikattu festival.
And another problem rises, for lorry drivers(not this one). More then half of the lorry drivers in Chennai are sero-positive, a hidden problem. Often on the road to destinies like Mumbay they have no social control anymore and they are not aware of the risk, information on this subject is suppressed. Saji, working for a protestant community, took me along to visit a patient ex-lorry driver and after 3 months he died. He took me also along to several social awareness workgroups and opened my eyes to this sad world. The infection-rate in Tamil Nadu is high, a lot of work to do there.
In memory of the so many lorry-drivers, victims of aids : The song called Leo.
