Every morning before going to school she makes a Kolam, a chalk drawing as to welcome any guest and to bring blessings to the house.
Mother has learned her this tradition, cause Kolams are a women's common art. The ritual mysterious designs are made with powder of white stone, lime, rice flower or other cheap material. Tamil Nadu has his own typical drawings passed on from generation to generation and everyone has his own freedom to add some personal creativity in it.
There are some small cylinders that they sell everywhere with tiny holes in it and rolling it on the ground it leaves a trail the chark inside of repetitve patterns. But still women prefer to use their bare skilled fingers to create their personal designs often inspired on flowers or figures on temples.
Mostly each other day a new design is drawn, believing that gods are fond of beautiful creativity competing with neighbours for the nicest one.
