Aravind Eye Hospital - Madurai
It started in 1976 with only 11 beds where Dr. G. Venkataswamy wanted to take care of the cataract problem of the poor and grow out to several hospitals all over India screening 2,7 million people and doing 400,000 operations a year nowadays to give the eyesight back to people by a self-supporting organisation , free for the poor !

Pavithra took us along to one of the premises where people of a remote village were returning home after their operation, happily to see the world again.
