Children of Accra 01
The area that we visited was a kind of a shanty town near the capital. The people were very warm and friendly. The highlites were always the children, curious and quick to smile, many had not seen white people before, much less touched one or talked to one. White people just never come to this part of town. We had a great time. Also discovered that Ghanaians love America and Americans. All of these shots of kids were done in and around this town.
Ghana Street Scene 2
This was right next door to the Church we visited. Very nice dog.
Ghana Street Scene 3
We were wandering the back alleys of the town we were in. Fortunately we had quite a few locals with us or we would have gotten lost in the maze of alley-ways.
Ghana Street Scene 4
Don't worry, the goat was only scratching his chin on the ground.
Ghana Street Scene 5
We attracted attention whenever we pulled into town. These kids were playing soccer and saw me shooting their picture as we drove by. These two shots are the result.
Ghana Street Scene 7
The little guy on the right was not too sure about me...
Ghana Street Scene 8
The expression of the guy on the left speaks volumes...
Ghana Street Scene 9
Maybe not the best exposure on the shot, but these little girls were so cute.
Ghana Street Scene 10
Everybody carries things on their heads. It's a whole nation with perfect posture.
Ghana Street Scenes 1
This was shot in the town where we were just outside of Accra. Just an average street scene on an average street.

Lunch time at school. I wandered over by the school yard and talked with the Principal, or School Master and apologized for disturbing the children's school with all our noise. He replied apologeticly that he was trying to keep the kids quiet so as not to disturb us!
Children of Accra 07
Do they know how poor they are? Or am I the poor one...
Children of Accra 08
We were on the beach at Accra taking pictures with digital cameras and showing the kids their images on the LCD screens on the cameras. They didn't quite know what to make of that, but they loved having their pictures taken.
Children of Accra 10
All the kids going to school were dressed neat and sharp. This little girl saw me and I gestured to my camera and then to her, she only came out this far...
Children of Accra 11
Curiosity; the most common response to us the whole time we were there...
Children of Accra 13
This was actually not shot in Accra. We were on a road trip up to Lake Volta and on our way back we stopped at a road side turn out. There were dozens of people selling food and drink items to cars and trucks along the highway. As we sat in the van I had my arm resting out the window. I felt someone touching my arm and looked down to see this young girl stroking my arm. I held out my hand and she touched and felt my skin for 5 minutes or more. I brought up my camera for a quick shot. Her expression is priceless to me...
