splash
Okay, not shot from a helicopter. This is not and HDR image either although layers and layer masks were used to bring out the sky detail.
Tree tunnel
This is the famous tree tunnel coming from the highway towards Koloa, shot from the air.
Napali coast
A portion of the incredible Napali coastline. Stunning to behold.
Yet again, more waterfalls
The mountains are ribboned with waterfalls like this. There are dozens of them everywhere. Most are visible only from the air like this.
yet, still more waterfalls
But wait! It's another waterfall!
Another Napali valley
One of the rainiest spots on Earth. The annual rainfall on the Napali side of the Island is over 460 inches.
And yet again, more waterfalls
Then there was another waterfall
Yawn, another waterfall
You can see in most of these images that we were flying under the cloud cover. That makes the light very soft, but also the sun came and went through breaks in the clouds. The result is multiple light situations making for even more bright and brilliant colors.
Flying into the crater
Here we are headed into Mt. Waialeale
What a surprise! Another waterfall.
More waterfalls, and more waterfalls
And then, there was another waterfall
As if the last few waterfalls were not enough
In Mt. Waialeale
Here we flew into the crater of Mt. Waialeale. This is one of my favorite images although is cannot do justice to the sheer scope of the place. Can't describe how small we were compared to the crater and waterfalls. Simply spectacular.
