I like to take a scenic, twistie road home to destress from work. Its longer and slower but I rarely see any traffic and I get great views of the valley with Morro Rock in the distance. Instead of five miles of highway I take 15 miles of byway.
Starting out from work, Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant
The plant service road is seven miles right on the coast!
With some great views
And some sweeping curves
Avila Beach View looking east
Avila Beach View looking south
Occasionally I go up Cave Landing Road in Avila Beach view - looking south
Cave Landing Road view looking west
Avila Beach Drive from Cave Landing Road
See Canyon Road Entrance from Avila Beach Road
This is where it gets interesting
Smooth pavement, whoops and twisties
And more
There is a one mile section of dirt
Dappled shade, creekside
Prefumo Canyon Road climbs out of the creek to this view. That's Morro Rock in the distance (lower left)
The next hill
Rock, rocks, and Morro Rock
This is pasture land, lucky little guy!
Curves and hills
No margin for error
Starting the descent
Some real twisties
Down in the canyon, new pavement!
Inviting!
