Great picture colin, looks like the water open up to accept the droplet, fantastic.

Brenda,

The technique was not too hard. To start set the shutter/ flash as fast as you can (1/640th min). Put a large bowl in the sink with a white paper behind. Start by doing drips so they are barely separated from the faucet to the bowl. Slow down the drips once you get the hang of it. Take lots of shots! It is amazing some of the shapes that are formed. I shot this in portrait so I did not get the faucet head in the way. If you have a helper - ice cubes work well for creating large splashes but you need to have some way of containing the mess (outside - re Colin). Some people have put fancy designs behind so the drop has them inside (I think Marc did this a couple of challenges back).

Check out this guy's stuff:

I really, really want to learn to do this! So far, no luck. The droplet looks like a crystal egg, ejected from its crater-like glassy nest. Or being deposited into it. You could sure make up a great story about that.

Fabulous!

Great shoot. When I saw this it reminded me of a shot tower, where they dropped measures of hot metal from the top of a high tower allowing it to cool and form a near perfect round, before plunging into water to do the final cooling. This was used for musket ball etc.

I think everyone should try it out too (except Marc - we really don't need to be exposed (sic) in our amateur fun :-))) Kidding Marc :-)

Nice one, can't really tell if it's on its way up or down.
I think we all have to try this out :-)
