Tales from the Crypt kind of image and mood. I agree that this image conjures up visions of past sins. I'd almost hate to see what's on the dark side.

The contrast is what makes this shot. You worked hard to keep lots of shadow detail without over-exposing the shot. I like the stark white highlights, which are appropriately harsh for the subject (hard earth).

Agree with the others. The tortured roots are quite a disturbing vision, and that leads to a good pic.

It does have the feeling of unearthed graves - like the roots have turned over every inch of soil and drained it of everything needed. really a cool picture, Richard.

I like this picture too. Lot of details in shadows and highlights and low key photo in same time. Fine exposition is crucial here. Well done, Richard.

Wonderful textures! The roots protrude like a network of arteries. That rounded rock at upper right looks like a partly-buried skull. The play of light is balanced by that bold shadow on the left. Really nice shot.
