A fine shot, and great tribute,
Bruce

Thanks Brenda, Colin and Miroslav,
Brenda you got exactly what I was feeling about this image.

This is just one reason to shoot in RAW and not delete images that at first don't seem very good. I have other versions from this photo but this is my favorite rendition.
Thanks everyone. Bob K.

Well, a lot of faulty pictures are the best, only, if one give it a try. Very powerful portrait.

Mistake or not, you have eneded up with a very powerful portrait

This is stunning. Your title fits the image but it also implies a wider hope, I think. I can't imagine a finer memorial tribute than such a portrait.

Very moving - and I would say this even if I hadn't read your explanatory comment. The light itself is a transformative element.

Thanks Rich and Brent,
This was supposed to be a flash photo but the old flash was only semi compatible with the E-300 and did not fire for this shot. The source of light was from a window that she was looking at as she sat at the dining room table at midday. I ended up with a severely under exposed image that I was able to recover using RSP and fill flash at 100.

Also this is my mother who was nearly as camera shy as I am when it comes to allowing anyone to take our photos. Unfortunately I will not be able to take any more photos of her as she passed away on January 20, 2008. She would have been 85 this month.

Thanks for the comments. Bob K.

Wow Bob! I don't think you could have a much better example than this. Look at the suggestion of lines in her face (though most is in shadow) and the great texture through her sweater - the hair puts her outside and makes the lighting at night seem quite beautiful.

I like the lighting on this very much
