Dreaming of Fishin'-Shirley
by Shirley Haden

That fishin' pole was worth its weight in gold. Milo loves it and he knows just what I mean when I ask him "Want to go fishin'?" He will find this fishing pole and drag it to you too. Yesterday I caught him sleeping with it too! HA!

Can't add much more than what's already been said. Milo's engaging in cats favourite activity - sleeping. Lovely shot!

Wonderful portrait. It is so clear with a rich tonality. I agree that the delicate whiskers and nose draw the eye into the shot. I think the clarity is partly due to the subject filling the frame with detail.

LOL Funny thing Katherine, the bait on the end of the line is a mouse! A fuzzy orange mouse in fact. :o)

so does it smell like fish? is that why he likes it? so cute! such a character. K

Thanks for the comments everyone. There was a version of this shot I liked so much better but the DOF somehow just didn't show up as nicely. I was a bit farther back on that other shot so composition was better. He is a funny cat, so he suits me fine. Richard was right in thinking he kept an eye open on that pole during these shots. Even in this one I think he had just enough of a slit to make sure he didn't miss anything!
I was pretty surprised he let me get so close to him. A couple of times I think his nose was hitting the lens LOL

His nose certainly draws us into the shot. I love its tiny hairs, and the delicate curl of his eyebrow whisker. This tells a great little story, that also speaks to our human longing for excitement and challenge (spring, too).

Now that is a funny story. Can almost sense how eager he is for the pole to "wake up"!

Awww, this is precious. I can just see the wiskers and eyes twitching. I wonder if they dream in color. Lovely shot Shirley.

The bobber (I think) looks like a Pixar creation, with a red eye looking at Milo, as if to say....Let's play. Very nice.

He probably has the other eye open to make sure his fishing pole stays put.
cats are amazing when it comes to that capability.
However he looks very content and I would suggest that is because he has picked a great person to live with.

He is so sweet, you have such a way with animals - OK, I know he was asleep but you have the point of focus just right on that cute little nose.

Fishing is OK, just don't let him hunting birds.
Lovely photo

I just love how he knows it is his pole and nice capture with the natural light.
