Picture is a little crowded, but this is good. Lot material to exploring around it.

I like this kind of shots, I know that you tell: I always finish taking my camera and shooting over the people in coffee shops, while my wife says "but, why can't you keep your camera into the bag?". Great composition and light, and great effect of the outside in the blind. endika
BTW funny to realize that this young man is watching to a cellular the same model as mine. Globalization, I supose.

I liked this the instant I saw it, not least because I've spent many an hour in similar places, hunched over a book or a pencil and paper. Great capture, Shirley.

Great candid, lighting is perfect.
Whenever you see someone by themselves these days they are intent on their mobile phones. Is texting as popular in the US as it is in the UK ? You are not "cool" unless you can text one handed without looking...

L like the warm feeling from the light there.

Funny how you have so much time to just "hang out" as kids. Where the heck does time go - probably running those darn kids around :-) Nicely lit and quietly reflective.

The lighting at Applebee's was just perfect for the theme and a good excuse to go have lunch/supper there. We were sitting on the opposite side of the big window in this shot and the young man was sitting at the bar in the center of the restaurant. Honeslty I don't know how I hold as still as I do sometimes. I just grabbed this quickly before a waitress saw me and scolded me for it. :o) I want an E-3 or maybe a 510 then I can do these without any shake I hope!

Way to tame the contrast Shirley! Very nice control of exposure. You weren't messing around shooting at 1/13s were you? :) My hat's off to that!
