Richard this is the old bypass road form the main 6KM pay tunnel. The road is rather bumpy and that gives the wavy effect. This road and tunnel was built by Italian prisoners of war in the 40's many of them who settled in the area after the war. I sometimes take this route as there are great panoramas from the top of the pass.
