Mirrored Ceilings Reflect the Vision Of Peace Statue-Shirley
by Shirley Haden

"Out of that smoke of tobacco and fire arises in their imaginations, their vision of peace, talking to them and to the world" Carl Milles-sculptor

This amazing statue is the largest carved Onyx statue in the World. This 55 ton, 36 foot high tribute to peace, depicts 5 Indians sitting around a fire smoking their peace pipes. It was dedicated in 1936 to WWI veterans of Ramsey Co. (the county I live in here in MN) as a tribute to everlasting peace.

Hey! Now this is original! I keep looking down for upside down :-) Really like the perspective - the grid really gives the whole picture an interesting dimension. The light and dark really are working for you. - brent

Shirley,
don't know exactly what onyx is but I love your picture. Very nice. Like that golden colour.

I really like this one Shirley, and what I find interesting is that I have never seen onyx art bigger than a chess piece, and you shows us this monster statue. I really though onyx could only be found in small pieces. hmmm, it looks like a chess piece. Are you using mirrors :)
