Lies & Manipulation, we want to know! by FrankM
by ctfchallenge

On the 11th March 2004 various bombs were detonated on commuter trains in Madrid, killing 200 people and injuring around 2000 as they were on their way to work. This resulted in a surprise result at the elections held a few days later.

Today, almost three years later, the authors of this bombing are still unknown, the investigation held by many to be a farce (34 of the accused were police informers), senior policemen have been charged with tampering with evidence after a newspaper investigation. The only thing known for sure is that it was not 'Al Qaeda'.

In many towns and villages, rallies are held every month on the 11th to protest this situation and the apparent intent of the government to cover up what really happened.

This is the first of such rallies held in my village. The banner reads "11-M (L)ies and Manipulation" - We want to know!"

Pardon me for sounding cynical, but, Europeans seem to be so easily manipulated. Can you only think and act as a group? You march in the street because (fascists, communists, socialists, greens, whomever)tell you to. Afterward, you ALWAYS proclaim that "never again will we be deceived". It really becomes tiresome.

Endika, this is a photograph of people making a political statement and not a political statement itself. The text is there for the viewer to understand what is going off. You may hold contrary views to these people, and you have every right to do so, but you have no more hold on the truth than they have.

What I would like to see is the transparency of justice that we should all expect in a democratic system. I don't like what is happening now because it is the same sort of covering up that existed under Franco, a regime under which I lived also. You may also remember that the party now in government organised death squads in your homeland when they were last in power.

I remember these days... the horror and stupefaction in front of the terrible attacks. And a gouvernment that were repeating an incredible version of the facts, in order to capitalize them until the arrival of the very near elections. Lies and manipulation... I had to look the french TV to know what it was happening in my own country, like when I was young, under the terrible Dictadura of General Franco! Please, Frank, don't aid these people to scatter their (these are the real ones) lies and manipulations. My poor country deserves better politicians than these. endika
BTW. I don't think that the result of the elections would have been much different anyway, and the precedent government knew this. This is the reason of the pathetic and extreme attempt to distort the facts.
