When the live traps quit working - brent

Perhaps when some see this they see a picture of a dead mouse.
I became vegetarian 35 years ago when I killed a bird while out "hunting" with a group of friends after a night of partying.
I feel very bad whenever I kill something.
I also feel an obligation to keep the house from being "infested".
I have spent a lot of money on live traps, trying to seal the house better, etc and every winter I get mice (who seem to always figure out how to get out of live traps).
To me the title could be called giving in.

for a death photo, this is touching and sensitive. I'm a rodent fan actually, but understand. I like the photo alot. Katherine

I sympathize with you predicament. We get Bird Spiders moving into the house (About the size of your hand and looks like a tarantula, but harmless.) The only damage they did was when one fell off the roof onto a guest and she wrecked the couch when she fled the scene. We now move them outside pronto. We are lucky with rodents as the bird population control officer (Cat that jingles) seems to keep them away. Rather a quick trap than cowardly poison and a slow lonley death.

Actually I found it very hard to look at. I wanted to look at it as if he were just asleep. Sort of like that deer I found out in the country. I know I will soon be facing the same dilemma with the cute little mice living on my balcony. The weather is turning and they may feel a need to be inside where it is warm. They’re just so cute! I’m going to buy some live traps and see how it goes. But, I feel like even if I do catch them and move them out to a field they will end up dying of starvation or freezing to death. :o( What to do???

Brent, I had a similar experience. It was actually quite funny to start with. Whenever we had guests around, this mouse would appear in the conservatory, and I spent many a happy hour with a box propped over some bait on a stick with a string attached. I would catch it and put outside. Then when one popped out of the armchair and sat looking at me I realised things had gone too far and, like you, resorted to more permanent solutions :(
