The Angel of the North by Michael Ramsay

The Angel of the North is the UK's biggest sculpture. 66 foot tall and with a wing span of 178 feet (almost the same size as a jumbo jet) it stands on a hillside over looking the main A1 trunk road. Completed on 16 Febuary 1998 and weighing in at 208 tons this is a very impressive sight.

Michael, these two shots are amazing. In a way this one reminds me of the timelessness of our guardians (somewhat like this shot by Gerard -http://www.pbase.com/oly_foto_review/image/51509841).

Just a wonderful shot - thanks!

Welcome to the challenge, Michael.
I like the composition and the light in your photo. The backlight increases the monumentality of the Angel. endika

This is one of the nicest shots of the Angel of the North I've seen, even surpassing mine! (teasing you but also true!!) I'm glad you finally entered and I'm glad you got such a great shot. The light coming from behind the angel really adds something to it. Makes it look a lot more angelic!
