Hummm, first I love this one Charlie, you done good! ;o) For me it seems a bit sad. I've seen to many good minds wasted because of drinking. I see this fellow, he seems alone even though there is someone sitting right beside him. This brings a lot of thoughts to mind.

Funny, isn't it? We all come to these with our own experience. For me going to a bar was going alone and smoking. For you, Charlie, it is a break in the day sharing with friends. Exactly the kinds of things a good picture should bring out.

Thanks Frank,
I guess it is a bit melancholic............I still think that bright light is a touch on the positive side ;-)

Nice work Charlie. I'm a bit with Brent on this - I perhaps wouldn't say depressing but certainly there's a feeling of solitude about it, almost like someone being lonely in a crowd. Great stuff Charlie!

Well, it's difficult for me to decide if it's a loneliness history or just an after work relaxing beer. I can say that I like this photo very much: It's delicate, and very well balanced, and there is a powerful contrast between the solid black masses in the left side and the incredible filigree of glass and light in the right side. It's a sample that in which way the magical exists among us. endika

While I know where you are coming from Brent, I personally find it to be a rather warm and comforting image. Afternoon sun, 3 beers visible that suggests a third person in the group on the left, makes me think of friendship and neighborhood. OK I am biased because the tavern is anything but depressing. If it was only the guy in the back all alone? Yes it might take on a bit more loneliness......For me the subject is important for the story to be told but I think the calm yet fluid composition is what makes it all work for me. That is the beauty of being able to interpret images as independent emotional people. On another note I think I overcooked the contrast and might redo it after a quick beer and a smoke ;-) Your comments are always well reasoned and more than important to me.

Consumption. Nervous energy. The story unwinding in the mind. Kind of lonely and depressing. Well captured.

That's my boy - evocative as hell. Excellent composition and love the rim lighting.
