Good shot, and with the curve off to the right exactly hits the theme.

I think the mixture of clouds and contrasty tracks give this image an umph factor.

Agree with Adrian re the vantage point... I tried to get some rail pictures for the comp, but I gave up when I saw this one! Alistair

G'day Charlie - ahhh... some time to really look and comment.

I really love the comp here, inc. the way you have been able to divide clearly the rail & the city skyline, it heightens the contrast for both, and still the cloudscape is another powerful dimmension - 'tis a story in 3 or more chapters. I think the vantage pt is unique, and the only element that would take it over the top is a moving train in the very near forground advancing toward the city? excellent image to theme. thanks bud. adrian

This series (Northbound, White Line, Metropolis) really reminds me of Andreas Feininger's work: "The camera is superior to the eye, and the photograph can, and ideally should, portray the world more graphic than reality itself."

(so that I don't end up w/ indistinguishable clumps) was easier in B&W than color. This picture is good because you can take several parts of it and make a picture all it's own - integrated as a whole it adds to that story dimension - brent.

Exactly what was going on here. I do have a lanscape oriented one that for some reason works a touch better as color.

Works for me.

AA seemed to do alright w/ just B&W. Actually in my previous life I found composition and separation of elements (so that I don't end up w/ indistinguishable clumps) was easier in B&W than color. This picture is good because you can take several parts of it and make a picture all it's own - integrated as a whole it adds to that story dimension - brent

Awww something like this is just what I had in my mind when Paul posted the theme. I really like it a lot Charlie.

Glad you like it Brent. I tried so hard to keep it in color but just didn't work.
