5th place: How did I get HERE? - MikePDX

Oreegon

Does the complete absence of water fall within the spirit of this challenge?

The Alvord desert is located in remote Southeastern Oregon State, USA. It is a very dry lakebed. I have no idea how that large rock found its way to that particular location in the middle of the alkali flats.

a want of water, might make a pic of lack of water related to a lack of water, no offense Mike, but what was done in the Hudson River, the water sheds of the NE, US, has helped us, but I think your problem out there, is open space, which people want to move into, and then, they need water, open space, has been solved out here,, there is none,,

See an example of a dust devil in the exhibition gallery.

Shirley, those are whirlwinds of dust - I've always known them as "dust devils". Since this is a water theme, maybe they are "waterless water spouts". They are quite far away, maybe 3+ miles or so.

I've read about these strange rocks that travel across the barren landscape. What is the dirt or steam I see in the distance? That is really bizarre looking too. Love your shot, it states how dry things get without water. I love water!!

Ice wind water the La times story of how the rocks move, yes it does fit the challenge.

Very unusual photo for the challenge. The rocks have been photographed moving.
