Thank you for your comments!
Shirley, as far as I know, she's a professional beggar. She holds a cup to make tourists understand she's asking for some coins, in the past she used to extend her empty hand (which is, or was, the spanish gesture to say "give me some money"). He "works" there every day, as does street musicians, candle sellers and others.

Really beautiful Endika. Is the little old lady asking for money? It looks like she is holding a cup for people to lend a hand to her. I don't think I could resist plunking a bit of money to help her out.

A wonderful shot Endika and the sepia treatment adds a certain something. Yaelle

It's all about angles, lines and people. Great shot!

Very nice street photography. Here the sepia works well in providing the right atmosphere.

Ok I see what do you mean, Zin, but I tried to keep a good amount of the wall and floor in an attempt to relate her to the stones, since I've been seeing her in this place for more than 30 years. In the past, an older woman used to work in team with her (her mother I guess), same appearance, same begging techniques. I'm sure this old woman was her "teacher", Brad. Not sure at all she's poor, actually...

The tilt is effective -- it makes the beggar's physical perch seem as precarious as perhaps her economic situation. And she's even on only one foot!

If the top were cropped lower, say to eliminate space in the arm-crook of the person walking away from us, it would bring the oncoming pedestrians into greater relevance to the scene, i.e., they might seem to be approaching their own day of reckoning in Old Age, perhaps Poverty.

great angled shot, does one go to school to be a professional beggar?
