It's certainly a very good read. My wife had it in a Greek translation and it says something that I managed to read it all the way through! On the other hand, I've tackled a couple of his other books (in English translation) but I have to confess I gave up on them.

And rather ironically Barry, the book appears in my photo for my entry titled 'The Book Thief'. That was totally accidental but you'll find in on the bottom shelf, 2nd from the left.

I do agree wholeheartedly. One of the books that captivated me from the first page to the last one, not only because the intriguing mystery of the killer book but also for the genial description of this convulse era.
