3rd (tie) - Promise Land - by endika

After two or three years to cross the immense desert of Sahara and many months waiting for an opportunity to jump over the border, they arrive to Europe...
only to realize that there's not any job for them. Junk gathering and illegal street selling are their only "professional" choices. Deep shadows of our bright society.

It's a familiar sight here in Athens too. only they have usually come from Asia via Turkey. Your photo documents the problem well. Barry

Like the old saying " The grass is always greener on the other side of the street" We all learn from experience that this is not normally the case. Nice play of light and shadow that works well in B&W
