5th. Portrait of Cuban Farmer - Brad

Vinales, Cuba

Our group went out to Vinales, which is an area west of Havana, with limestone hills and small mountains. It is a farming area, especially tobacco. While taking some photos at a popular overlook, a farmer came up on an ox cart (with an ox of course), he invited us to his nearby farm the next day. A small one story house. Guava, papaya, and banana trees in the backyard along with a pig, ox, horse and chickens. This is a portrait of his next door neighbor who was sitting out on his porch in front of a stucco wall. He is in his 80's.

Great you got some shots in! I was just waiting for some of your great Cuban shots. I envy you with all these wonderful portraits of people. One of my favorite things to look at and photograph are people, the opportunity doesn't come along to get shots like this one very often. I love it!

This is really exceptional. The thing that strikes me most is that I can almost feel the cotton of his shirt and trousers. I know that seems like a strange thing to mention but the colours and textures are really alive and very real in this photo.
