I also like the way they are protecting the ox's heads with a bit of padding, I could see pulling with those ropes against their skin could be a huge problem. I feel sorry that they have nose rings though. I wouldn't like being pulled around by my nose anyway.
I love this, in Cuba I am sure this is everyday transport. I live near a place called Bede's World, a museum about the venerable Bede and his life and times. Part of the museum has a Saxon farming community showing how they lived in the 7th century. among the animals are two oxen, very rare to see in the UK
When I was child, you could see the latest ox carts in the countryside in my birth region. This is an image of a time that is gone forever. Quite nostalgic indeed. endika
