Hummmmm, perhaps that was wood? It very well could be, I only thought it was horn, it might be wood, I didn't even think of wood.

Shirley, I have never seen a horn made off horn. metal or wood were the only ones I could find information on very interesting find.

That's interesting Henry. Did you notice the horn? All the saddles I've ever used (when I was younger I used to ride) and they all just had what I presumed to be, a leather covered metal horn. This old saddle really has a horn made of horn.

Will have outlasted many a horse and rider, looks to be from the late 18 hundreds. Growing up we had a few of those old saddles around the farm. Like your treatment of the photo.
