Brad - I was doing these experiments in a square jar. I would put a bolt on the stem of a flower and sink it in oil. Then I would drop water or ice on the flower. Water is heavier than oil and would cause some pretty cool effects. After I was done, I left the flowers in the oil for about a year and they created these interesting "egg casings". So I tried the experiment again. I still have this jar forgotten on a shelf. I should go and see what it looks like.

So why is a lily in oil in the first place? What was the reason and what was the planned effect?, like the blue cast to the image
