This just a small lake/pond. Probably som winds through a cold night made this pattern. This is in the mountains plateau about a 1000m above sea level. It happens sea water freezes, it have to be cold over an extended period. And the sea water has to be mixed with a high degree of fresh water from rivers. Typically inland fjords. Some winters we can go skating on a fjord, a typical problem is getting onto it due to cracks caused by the tide. And the ice gets thinner and thinner the further away from the bottom of the fjord. But normally it doesn't get that cold around here.
Beautiful! I love the patterns in ice. The thumbnail looks like a closeup of a feather. Is this the ocean - how cold does it have to get for saltwater to freeze?
