I hope the tides are turning and we're going back to the way our grandparents cooked. I think the downfall of American food hit in the early 50s. People started liking convenience of the boxed foods and cattle men liked the profits from fattening up cows in 6 months instead of 3 years. The cattle got pumped full of growth hormones and antibiotics. You know, I saw a show that explained, the farmers get a calf, let it get to about 600 pounds and take it to stockyards and from there, they get fed nothing but some mash of corn with who knows what else (by the way, cows really prefer grass) and within 6 months the cow goes from 600 pounds to 1200 pounds, and then slaughtered. The entire thing is cruel and we as a nation are getting fat just like the cows, hummm? I'm shocked when I get honey mustard and there is no honey in it at all, only corn syrup! Read the labels; it's shocking to me. I think this last half century will be known as "The Obesity Era".
