Snailbeach Lead Mine - FrankM

Snailbeach Lead Mine in Shropshire UK is now an industrial museum. My Gt.gt grandfather worked there as an engineer in the 1830's.

A great industrial landscape, I love visiting places like this.

I really don't know but I think it would be foolish to imagine they didn't. You have to see this too in the context of the industrial revolution which cost a great many lives. My Gt Gt Grandfather lived until the age of 67 (1794 - 1861) so probably he wasn't poisoned(?)

This is a very large plant for the 1830s I would think. Do you know if the men that workded there ever got lead poisoning from working around all the lead? Like the men of the next generation who have died from cancer due to asbestos. I wonder what it is that the people these days are working around to kill them, probably crazy stuff put in our food to make it last forever on a shelf perhaps? It's a wonderful photo Frank, it really is sitting on a beach front isn't it.
