Thanks for such wonderful comments, friends. I deeply appreciate your feedback on this one. It was a shot that won't be repeated, I'm sure. Just a lucky moment when I had my camera with me in the car!

The faint line is actually the shadow of a snowdrift. In color, it becomes more obvious because the snow contrasted with the winter sky is also visible. I'll play with removing or tapering it once the challenge is over.

Very nice Brenda (now that I have connected BJ Tate to Brenda, lol). Seems we share a likeness of sepia toned birds, lol. This photo could easily be a very old or very new photo.

The first and last chapter of "How to Photograph Birds." Simply exquisite.

Sepia worked very well with the hen and her surroundings. This brought back memories of many a fine day in the field.

A very striking shot. The sepia treatment is very effective here and the minimal background adds extra emphasis to the subject.

those banded colored wings with feathers open really make this image,,it is amazing that birds live through cold winters

Hadn't noticed that line until Colin pointed it out... now my eye sees the pheasant on a string :o Just tapering it off before it touches the bird would do wonders.

Very nice work, I don't know how you maanged to ctach the bird in flight!
I would be tempted to clone out a bit of the darker line on the right of the bird, just a cm or so.

There is a certain timelessness about this image, like a postcard from 100 years ago or a drawing from 100 years before that. Just lovely, Brenda. --Stefan

Sepia tone seems to add to the bleakness of the scene... Or maybe I've finally had enough of this winter? :)

No one can miss this pheasant, in any color he is a beautiful bird.
