Life goes on, sometimes aspects of it are left behind, for various reasons. Sometimes one is lucky enough to capture the demise.

Wonderful and clever use of lines plays an impish joke on the viewer, leading the eye to a point of convergence where there is...nothing! Well, next to nothing, anyway. This little joke sharpens the photograph's poignancy as witness to another graveyard of industry. The symbolism in uprooted concrete anchors is powerful allusion to the displaced workers and their families. Fine photo.

On theme and a reflection of the economy.

Well I guess I'll add my name to the list of admirers. An all round great shot & treatment.

Tastefully done! I mostly struggle viewing the single color in monochrome (one of my many weaknessses!) but this just fits right in. Excellent use of leading lines.

I did not get to se it without the yellow, but yellow and black sure is effective. The wasps did not choose it by accident !

Another vote for the yellow, adds to the sense of decay methinks

I second the motion from the forum as well. Yellow is IN!

I like the pale yellow treatment also. It conveys the industrial decay of the scene.

Ok, I don't usually bow to pressure, but I gotta say, I liked the yellow too - just had to get rid of some remnants of red. Thanks for the comments, folks. --Stefan

I miss the yellow too... maybe you can paint it back in?
Shirley Haden08-Feb-2011 04:36
I think I liked it better with the color popping. That yellow was pretty cool.

I've thought always that this sepia/cream treatment works perfectly in these industrial images. I like this bended fence as the main subject, it conveys a feeling of abandon or even suffering. Nice the detail in the gravel.
