Emerald Lake is a magical place - one of my favourites, when I'm lucky enough to get out that way. You've done a terrific job capturing the feeling of the wilderness, and the utter stillness and peace one finds there. I very much like the B&W, which is interesting because of course, the lake's name suggests its outstanding colour - and I've never thought of it like this before.

The austerity in this scape leads your sight to the water, as it was the last refuge of life in this frozen surrounding. B&W reinforces this effect. Very nice photo! endika

I always feel lucky whenever I get to shoot fresh snow near open calm water - the water always looks like a black mirror. This shot is real special - even if you lived in the area you would probably be lucky to get this shot. Congrats- looks like you must have had a good trip :-) brent
