The hands bridge the distance between species. This is a marvelous shot, rich in meaning and appeal to the viewer. It draws us in. I can almost feel the tiny creature's pebbly skin, and I share the children's sense of wonder.

I really like this Alistair - it reminds me of how sacred child's curiousity can be. So much more than a portrait.

this looks timeless. like you went back a few centuries and saw these same fellows, thrilled with their great find.

Hands for having care, hands for discovering and loving, all another way to relate with the wonders of this world that so frecuently we lose in the path of adult age. This image brought me back to the childhood for an instant, very nice feeling, thank you Alistair. endika

I hope he never looses his wonder! Or her, her gentle touch towards all critters. ;o)

Children have such a natural sense of wonder and such a willingness to explore (if not always learn!) and this is a terrific view into their world.
