Thanks all. My friend is not renowned for his subtle taste : ) This zebra mat made it very easy to tread on a cat!

Awesome use of the black lines to dramatize the cat! I can see a significant but effective graininess as well, which makes me think of the way some of my parents' photos turned out in the 50s. I notice it especially in and around the eyes and on the white part of the blanket. Very cool!!

you did a great job capturing the the depth of and tonal range of the cat. some techniques just gives a solid black but this is really nice.
