Love of reading - Christa (cnb)

I believe it was my mother who instilled in me a love of reading at an early age. It is a true gift of life: delving into another world, whether it really existed or was invented by the writer; in my imagination, it comes alive.

Thanks Miroslav, Richdow, Collin, and Brenda.

Brenda is right: I chose the OOF version of this shot because it's about the books, not their titles. But I will tell you what my current read (open) is: "The Fifth Queen" by FM Ford, an old book my mother - coincidentally - dug out of her bookshelf and handed to me last week. So Collin, if you could zoom in, you'd get a lot of "thou art"'s and "anan"'s and other such lovely old English words and expressions:-)

The blurriness of the titles lends universality to the shot, because they could represent different books to different readers. I'm currently on a work assignment 300+ km from home, and my first hour of free time was spent in the secondhand bookstore down the street from my hotel. So your entry has a lot of relevance to me at the moment.

Nice. Out of focus can work. I keep in squinting to try and read a few lines.

The OOF fascinates me. so I sit and try to read what my eye can not resolve. what I can't see in this images makes it very interesting to me.

Christa,
it doesn't mater if similar pictures are in same challenge. They are different enough and both has their own value. I like your take too.

Hi Shirley. When I was uploading this shot, I noticed that Endika had had the same idea (darn!), so I put it in the exhibition gallery instead 'cause I still like it and didn't want to drop it altogether. Maybe I'll move it into comp.

This is very good Christa, you should put it in the competition gallery. I think you did a very good job of composing this photograph. I love the book with the bookshelf in the background, great use of your DOF.
