Promise of a future shared - Christa (cnb)

This was an easy choice for me, because my engagement ring is one of my most significant recent gifts. Significant, because to me it signifies a promise of a shared future with the man I love. It's a symbol of joy and hope that reminds me of my good fortune every time I look at it. "At last, my Love has come along...".

The second gift in this photo: the ring is lying on my old marble-topped bureau, a family heirloom which I got from my father, who in turn got it from his great-aunt. It's been my companion in nearly every place I've lived so far, much to my friends' chagrin who have helped me move in the past:-)

Thanks Miroslav and Goffen.

Shirley, the wedding is at the beginning of September - you were close:-) And I guess my choice of song is not that original...oh well, it's a good one for a wedding: "...for you are mine at last!" - hah, gotcha! Just kidding. And I remember you showed a photo of your rolltop desk a little while ago: that looked nice!

acwalbur, the ring is off so I can take a picture of it LOL

Very nice - and the water (tears?) add a little bit of mystery to the actual shot? Why is the ring off? Why are the tears on the bureau?

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that song you quoted "At last, my love has come along" was a song at my son's wedding 4 years ago. Cool huh? ;o)

How exciting and how lovely too! So when's the date? I'm guessing you might be an October bride? I don't know why that came into my head, I guess it was to fill some of that empty space HA! I know what you mean about those heavy desks! We have a big roll-top that has to be broke down into 4 pieces everytime you rearrange furniture, it is the only way to pick it up. Your's sounds beautiful!

Nice shot, and a nice story to go.

Hope you are "happy ever after"

I really like the picture and the idea and story behind it.

Thanks Brenda, Brent, and Colin. It took me several attempts to get the starburst as I wanted it!

Brent, I admit I didn't think much about the symbolism of the two drops of water. Distinct and yet appearing as one when merged together? Hmm, as long as that doesn't entail a total loss of individual indentity.

An uncluttered and lovely composition. The diamond holds a star in its heart. I wish you both every happiness.

I have been thinking of the symbolism of the two drops of water near the ring.

Tears each must give - that increase the brightness of the marriage.

The fluidity of the outside world contrasting with the solidity of you two as one.

The ability of two people staying together able to reflect the same beauty as two people married - but not having the same beauty.

Beautiful ring - congratulations on finding your priceless true love :-)

Veru nicely done, I like how you managed to get the starburst of light on the gem in the right place.
