Dodgy curves - Bruce

Didcot Railway Centre in Oxfordshire. Lovely working steam engines from the old Great Western Railway.
The tracks look remarkably wobbly, but they are only used at walking pace...

Same here Miro. The loco is having its ash cleaned out into the pit between the rails.

This steam machine reminds Me on some traveling in the days when I was a boy. Really didn't understand those maneuvers, up and down the tracks, again and again.

wobbly or not these rails are well seen and the crop is perfect.

Thanks Shirley, it's actually a coal-powered power station, and famous blot on the Oxfordshire landscape for miles around. It changes the weather, and gliders use it as a turn point as it's a reliable thermal generator.

Oh I like this one much better. Lots to admire and there's something interesting to have the old steam engine in the same shot with a nuclear power plant. Talk about the old meeting the new.

Thanks Colin and Brent. It all happens at walking pace in this bit, with guys walking and looking out, but it delightfully unrestricted - unusual these days.

I like how the steam engine pulls everything back into a different era. One must require a bit of courage to walk around here - looks like a train could come up on you from any direction :-) Excellent portrayal of the theme, Bruce!
