Death Valley

I have several others that also seem nice, but I keep coming back to this one because I don't think it would ultimately take second to my others. I just happened to be in Death Valley on the opening day of the competition.

Great shot. Looks like you got it at just the right time with the shadows not too subtle nor overpowering.

Thanks guys, you're too kind. I just happened to be walking through an undisturbed patch of dunes early in the morning and saw this. I didn't have much of a choice!

Really excellent, Raven. The ravines keep leading the eye up up to finer detailed ravines weaving in and out of view, crowned with the vegetation, up to that magnificent polarized sky. Irresistible.

This leads me right into the shot and up the dune toward those distant shrubs (or trees). Gorgeous parallel patterns, great color.

I've seen pictures like this and never have had the opportunity to take one. the sand is such a wonderful scuptural entity

I also really like this one. the lines are not lines if you know what I mead. Without the grass at the top it would be a nice abstract.

Oh I really like this, great use of that lens Raven. It's a great shot! I love the contrast of the deep blue sky and the golden sand. I like that bush up top also, I think it really balances the whole scene out. Works wonderfully for the theme.
