I really love this shot. For me, I agree with Shirley's view where Freddy is scanning his domain. Looking down on his realm. Excellent title.

Thank you Brenda,
I am not geologist so I don't have the correct terminology but I would say that this part of lake bed is composed of sandstone, clay, and some hard brittle schist and very little real hard stone like granite but there is some here. If one were take a hammer to those projections on the large outcrop they would shatter into dusty little spices. You might say that formation is a conglomerate of several different minerals.
During the spring and summer this rock will be under 25 to 30 feet of water so while under water the soft material washes away and the harder material remains like little warts

The composition is so very pleasing and so are the soft tones. I like the two water lily pads floating serenely in water that looks like sky. The cat, of course, is a given "favourite". Who can resist Freddy in any pose? Not me!

The rock formation intrigues me as well. It looks to have protruding layers of sediment but it's also worn quite smooth overall, as if there are two very distinct types of rock in it.

Freddy and I thank you all for the nice comments, but now I have to buy him an extra ration of tuna

The more I see this the more I love how it seems as if Freddy is high above a huge valley looking over the expanse.

Freddy should hang on the wall( :-) ), sorry, his picture, which is wonderful BTW. One of My favourites of your pictures, really like it.

Good framing Richard, peaceful, but an air of expectancy...

Excellent picture in all respects : mood, composition, exposure, story. Well done Richard.

Looks like Freddy's spied a leaf floating in the water. I love the patterns from the clouds on the water and of course Freddy too.
