Built to last by Dennis

Local legend is that this sea eagle's nest is over 100 years old having been built and maintained by generations of this magnificent bird. The nest is high up in an old tree and is only visible between a gap in the surrounding trees whilst onboard a boat cruising the Brodribb River. I took this with 70-300mm at maximum focal length.

The first basket weavers were the birds! They never cease to amaze me when it comes to building nests. I like looking at them up close during the winter and a lot of them are built so strong! Like these old huge eagle's nests, that withstand all mother nature can throw at them and they keep standing, although they can get knocked down sometimes. This one reminds me of one we have locally that is easily 8 feet across. Great story about how hidden this is too.
