Ah. I like this experiment - like picking out forms and depth through fog. Try it at twilite - after the sun sets - the light will help differentiate.

Well, I try analysing what makes this great :-)
its the contrast of the complexity of the tangled weeds in sharp focus in the foreground against the simplicity of tone and colour of the out of focus background. We strain to look beyond the weeds but what is there is only hinted at, a meadow with a line of trees perhaps. What do you see?

Hey thanks everyone...not sure how this holds up over time but acts as a dress rehearsal for better pics maybe.

Simplicity and subtlety. These are the keywords to describe these photos you have posted. Like if it was a secret door in the image that we should discover to access into it. A pleasure to watch. endika

I really like this very much! This is just what I was trying to do and failed! You got it just right. It's gnarly Charlie!

Charlie, you have just taught me a lesson. I have tried to photograph the woods in the winter with all those straight bare trees but it always looks too busy. you have fixed that even with a chaotic fore and back ground. very nice in deed.
no more F16 for me LOL
