Hey C, at the recent contemporary art fair (international + local artists) here in Melbourne(oz) there was a pic that made me laugh (wish i could remember the title)

Charlie, I concur with all the other comments, very well captured and would look good printed up on a wall.

Hi All and thanks for so many comments. Yes this is a bit of lake (sea) weed on Lake Michigan,

it's got to be on sand, right? really terrific

Charlie this is superb.

A bit of moss, perhaps? The tiny vein on the sandstone looks like a river. The green could be an oasis in the desert (except it's curving away from the stream). I love the minimalism!

;-)

now this makes me laugh. Superb C. - this is a topic tailor made for your abstract genius.

The starkness of the background makes the position of the green matter a real balancing act, giving the whole composition some serious tension. Great stuff.

I was going to suggest flipping it - it may gain a certain feeling of gravity.

but then

the more I look at it the more it seems the green is an animated fish like object riding the outline of a landscape (cliffs in Arizona?) I bet if it was larger the individual fronds of the seaweed would start becoming a better visual factor.

Good stuff Charlie!

Very nice, as said previously elegant and simple yet powerful composition.

One of the best, simple, clean and elegant.
I really admire your ability to see the potential in the ordinary and turn it into a great image.

Unique and original take as ever Charlie!

This is wonderful Charlie! I was waiting for some drama from you. The pattern the water made in the sand and the bit if green mossy plant that got left behind gives it's splash of color to the scene. This one is a piece of art.
