framed by a flower - brenda

The flower is a single phlox bloom, less than an inch across when fully open. The crab spider is, of course, much smaller - she just looks intimidating if you're ant-size!

Really good shot You must have a lot of patience to track down these guys and wait for the right moment.
My wife (who does not even like spiders) even likes this one, so that is high praise indeed!

Brenda, are you sure that is real spider, the spiders around here are really quite big and dangerous looking but this little girl looks quite safe.
I just saved the living room and the cats from a wolfe spider that had a body about two inches long his legs were very hairy and his overall diameter was about five inches. I normally handle spiders very well but this guy was so big I had to catch him in a big glass cooking pot.
He now lives deep in the woods.
I did not have time to take a picture or he would have been featured here.

Hahahaha. What a great catch. That's one flower I'm not gonna to sniff :-)

What a chubby spider she is! I love that she is yellow so she looks like a natural center of the flowers. Very clever disguise for her unsuspecting prey. I guess you could call this one "Pretty in Pink". :o)
