Lovely shot Colin! Reminds me of summer holidays in England as a kid - sat in deck chairs out of the rain. Once again, wonderful!

Thanks for all the comments. I'll keep you all guessing as to what the view is, the light was from a giant softbox out to the left - that is, another cloudy but bright day, at least it didn't rain.
We haven't had such a wet summer since.... umm.. last year :-)

Good eye Brenda, yes the curves do balance with each other nicely! I think Carlo figured out that last thing I couldn't put into words. It's what we don't see in this picture, that is the other thing that I love about it, it leaves room for the imagination.

There's a wonderful ambiance to this - the viewer feels wrapped in mellow light and peace. Love the curved lines that frame the subject and are echoed in the canvas chairs. This is one of those images a person keeps returning to study and appreciate.

Just curious what could be the view whence the chairs are facing. I'm imagining acres/hectres of vineyards w/grapes ready for harvest. A nice green lawn, or a view overlooking a lake. Just a cool place to relax.

I really love this photograph. I keep coming back to it, wondering what it is that makes it so great. It has beautiful lighting, it has the nice bit of color in the chairs and it has very nice composition. Those are all great things to have but there is something else that makes me love this and I just can't put it to words. I bet this one is very nice in b&w also. I'm glad you posted it in color.

Yup. Mighty fine shot indeed. The bit of stonework on the left breaks the repetition nicely. And, of course, your relaxed stagehand is the bonus :-)

I like the way you cropped off the right side of the arches, and the way the chairs try to mirror the curves above. Nice one!
