Combining hiking with a business trip to Colorado, I took a late flight on Friday evening to Denver and finally reached the trail head (10,500ft) in the Indian Peaks of the Rocky Mountain Front Range at 2:30am. After a short and not very restful nap in the car I started hiking around sunrise. The loop combined the SE-Ridge on Mount Audubon (13,223ft), the connection ridge to Paiute Peak (13,088ft) and the descent to the little lake above Blue Lake (all class 3). |
Um einen beruflichen trip nach Colorado mit einer Wanderung zu verbinden hatte ich einen späten Flug nach Denver am Freitag abend. Ich erreichte den Ausgangspunkt (3200m) in der Indian Peaks Wilderness im Rocky Mountain Front Range um 2:30 in der Frueh. Nach einem kurzen und nicht sehr erholsamen Schläfchen im Auto begann ich die Wanderung bei Sonnenaufgang. Die Runde kombinierte den SO-Grat auf Mount Audubon (4030m), den Verbindungsgrat zu Paiute Peak (3989m) und den Abstieg direkt zu dem kleinen See über Blue Lake.
