| The Icterine warbler L 12-13,5cm (4.7-5.3") breeds often in forests, open deciduous woodland with ground vegetation and glades, parks and in mature shady gardens. The Icterine warbler lives up high in the trees and is often difficult to spot. The nest is woven between branch clusters usually 1-4m above ground. The Icterine warbler is a typically Hipolais warbler with a strong and pointed orangeish bill, a pretty large head often with raised crown feathers and a relative short tail. It has long wings, with the primaries at the same length as the tertials. The tertials has light edges and forms a pale light panel. The primaries is grey-brown with light edges. The back is grey-green and a little lighter than the Willow warbler. The breast and abdomen is light yellowish. The white-yellow eyebrow is pretty short and end ends just behind the eye surrounded by a light eye-ring. The legs is greyish and often blue-grey. The sexes is very similar. |
