The Collared dove L 31-34cm (12.1-13.3") breeds near farms and in cities with parks or gardens with coniferous trees, where the nest is placed. Food is mostly vegetable, specially seed. Medium large, long, slim and elegant dove. It has a narrow black band with white edges at the neck. Even coloured beige with a little darker back and blue grey primaries. The red iris is surrounded by a white eye-ring. Easily recognised at long distance by it's monotone do-doo-do song. |
